Arena included in IES Progress Report 2019

We are happy to announce that Arena has been selected for inclusion in the 2019 IES Progress Report, an annual publication dedicated to recognizing significant contributions to the lighting industry.

Published by the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), a collegial community dedicated to improving the lighted environment, the IES Progress Committee’s mission is to track developments in the art and science of lighting worldwide.

Arena is a circular luminaire that combines a classic form with the ability to reconfigure light sources by attaching them magnetically. Arena’s innovative magnetic ring enables users to snap on or snap off light sources at will. Each light source is equipped with strong neodymium magnets that form a safe, low voltage connection to the Arena ring. Users can move, spread evenly, gang, flip up or down, pivot, or aim light sources without tools or an electrician.

Launched initially with four light source options (Slice, Aim, Beam and Glow), users are able to change Arena’s aesthetic and light performance to suit.

“The different light sources enable the luminaire to focus on an architectural detail, highlight a piece of furniture or aim precisely on art or signage on the walls. It’s very versatile,” said Francois Renaud, Director of Design at Eureka. “We’re honored to have Arena selected to be included in the IES Progress Report.”

Acceptance in the Progress Report is based on an impartial judging process by the Committee to evaluate each submission on its uniqueness, innovation and significance to the lighting industry. Accepted submittals will be recognized at the Annual Conference in August 2019, as well as be posted on the IES website and published in LD+A magazine.
